Value Challenge

I recently did an exercise where out of a list of 50+ values, I had to select my top 8 I care about when making a decision. The following are my result after an exhausting amount of deliberation and the reasons why I selected them.
  1. Beliefs: I picked beliefs because this encompasses faith, love, humility, and serving. If I cannot do these things, it will limit or hinder me from bringing to the table what I feel I am best at.
  2. Love: I chose love because things done in love create an impact more than the act itself.
  3. Integrity: I chose integrity because hypocrisy kills every witness and destroys credibility with people you work with, work for, and that work for you.
  4. Balance: I chose balance because this encompasses work and rest, serious and humor. The key to life in my opinion is an everlasting quest to seek balance for each season.
  5. Variety: I chose variety because I know variety sparks an interest for creativity. We are creative by nature if we were made in God’s image. He created the world and us; therefore, creativity is in our DNA.
  6. Organization: I chose organization because once I settle in on a project, I believe it takes much organization to see it through to completion. Organization is how people stay ahead, keep focused and achieve goals.
  7. Loyalty: Loyalty is important to me because I feel it is a driving force for trust. Anyone who lacks trust has the potential to be a cancer in an organization if they lack the maturity to handle issues privately and professionally.
  8. Security: Security is based on all things one can be secure in, such as finances, work, and spirit. Full security is trust in faith and faith in trust. Once you sense true security, it is because you have already discovered humility, obedience, and peace. If I sense security before I make an investment or decision, I will choose that path. If I sense no security, I will decline it.

I now challenge you to start your quest and pick your values, either for your own code of ethics or for your organization. Make sure to read them often and if they are for your organization, be sure and discuss them every time you meet with your team.

Talk soon & God bless,
MG
