Problems and Perspective

Are problems becoming the highlights of your life?

Something that can bring you great perspective is when you take a step back and compare your actual image to your perceived image. I am not sure how most people see me, but I have made some observations that some people see me as one who does not struggle much. This could not be further from the truth. Everyday there is this internal battle I face. How this battle goes usually determines how I productive I will be that day. It does not determine if I will get things done however. Here are a few things I have learned that have helped me to stay focused on the positive, even in the thick of things.

  1. Speak Life – I believe that if you focus on the problem, more problems will come. I speak life over how I am going to win at life verses stressing about how bad things are. It takes about the same amount of energy to do both.
  2. Answer Driven – As soon as you can learn to accept your reality of what you're about to face, start to focus on the solution versus the problem. In getting to the Promised Land, the Israelite's were problem driven but Moses was answer driven.
  3. Shift Focus - This is not an excuse to avoid your problems, but even an artist can only stare at their own work for so long before they need a break. In this break, help someone else achieve something great. Sow a seed and remember it is not all about you.

In summary, address problems but do not make them the highlights of your life. Many think I have fewer problems because I actively choose not complain as much as others. My problems are the same as everyone else. How I deal with them though, is not. I try my best not to complain because I have noticed it only attracts negativity to me. Any productive person does not want this type of energy around them. Your problem, your perspective, your choice.

Talk soon & God bless,
MG
