Mentors are great. There is much to be said about finding someone with more wisdom than you that you can learn from, be honest with and trust. If you do find someone like this, do not hesitate to reach out to them. Ask them if they would like to grab a cup of coffee and share with them why you would like to be mentored by them. Unfortunately, we might not always have people like this available in our proximity. If you are without someone to reach out to for mentorship directly, there is a way to still have a mentor. What if I told you that some of the best mentors I ever had, I never had a conversation with. How is this possible?
We live in a day and age where almost everyone is accessible through the content in which they produces. You can have mentors from a distance. Mentors from a distance allow you to study individuals, their successes, failures and courses of actions. Oftentimes this can be achieved by reading books authored by a particular person, you can watch their videos online, you can subscribe to their website and newsletters, or download and listen to their podcasts. If you know where you want to go or the field you want to be in, I say pick a mentor from a distance to follow and get to work. One important thing to remember is to not to do every little thing like they do. Study what and how they do things and how that aligns to the standards you hold for yourself. If you are going to start taking their practices as your own, make sure to credit your influences and always place your own style on what you do. You always want to make sure you stand out as your own person, not as a cheap knock off of anyone else. If you can truly grasp this concept I am sharing with you today, then you can have mentors from around the world in various aspects that pertain to your life. Start researching people of interest you might want to learn about and potentially learn from. You will soon be able to take their experiences and what they share, and convert their knowledge into your very own success. Talk soon & God bless, MG
