I Am enables me to become, to exist.
Exodus 3:14 - God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelite's: 'I AM has sent me to you.'" When I was aiming to create this website, I hated the idea of building something around my own name and insight. I am not one who craves the spotlight. I feel most comfortable behind the scenes. I did it in spite of my personal feelings because I realized to pursue the vision I was after, it was necessary. So in my prayer, I sought out away to remain humble as I throw my name and face out in the unforgiving digital realms. I Am Matthew Garcia was selected as the name because that is who I Am has called me to be. When I make a statement, "I Am Matthew Garcia" it allows for the world to see that it is because of God that I even exist. It keeps me humble and keeps me focused. It is a constant reminder that God must always come first (Matt 6:33). Yes God created me, but the next question I asked myself was who am I? Where I initially missed it was thinking I was what I did. My occupation or skill sets have nothing to do with who I am as a person and only speaks to what I am able to do at that moment in my life. This should have no baring on my actual identity though. I also quickly learned discovering self does not mean trying to figure out who I would like to be, but more so who I already am and allowing that person to grow and unfold in a lifetime. This was a question I realized many people ask themselves, but few slow down long enough to seek out an honest answer. One pillar in my life I am able to identify with is that I am a beloved child of God. As a child of God, I Am allows me to grow and evolve. Every day I learn new parts of me. Growing is changing. Change is expected in my life every day and I welcome it. If I woke up today who I was yesterday, I have already failed. Why? Because I have shown no proof of efforts made to evolve. A man scared of change is a man of little faith. If nowhere else, here on this blog I am free to unfold and share how the turns of life mold me. This is one vehicle I will utilize to share lessons I have learned. In sharing what I have learned, my focus is on the people that read these posts and if they gain from our time together. My objective for this blog is to inspire thought, provoke conversation and encourages growth. I pray that your time invested on this site does all three of these things for you.
