Imagine you’re encompassed in a large, comfortable bubble..

It surrounds you, creating an enclosed, risk-free environment, where you experience the ability to function with limited stress and ease. The potential for adversarial conflict bounces right off your sphere. You are in a complete zone of safety.

Well, allow me to burst your bubble.

This sphere that we so-often refer to as our “comfort zone” holds hidden truth: It’s all in your head.

You see this “zone” is not actually a physical location, but rather a neurologically created space where patterned routines and activities subconsciously minimize anxiety and stress. The mind simply looks to create an illusion of comfort, when the truth is you need discomfort when striving to be your absolute best.

To get the best out of yourself a moderate period of relative anxiety is needed. This area of discomfort exists just beyond the borders of your safe space; where levels of stress, fear and anxiety are slightly higher than what you’re normally used to experiencing. Ultimately it’s in this place where you truly find yourself and what you are capable of accomplishing.

To reach your greatest potential - moving from one place to another, from one level to the next - you have to make the decision to leave the comfort and stress-free environment of your sphere. By pushing into the unknown, and challenging the very boundaries that have been created to give you this sense of security, you will discover a world within yourself that knows no limits.

So what decisions do you need to make to burst out of your bubble?

It really is all about one day at a time, one choice at a time. Choosing to take each step is what builds the discipline for real and true change. Keep up the great work!

Coach, keep inspiring my brother!

Very accurate, again it’s funny how experience in these matters is the test, yet we fail all too often in the embrace of that failure. Tears yes, at times, confusion a must. We look to push away all that makes us uncomfortable, or confused maybe even sad. The true sadness comes later when we are confronted again by the same scenario, and we react the same, leading again to more frustration. We need lessons, they come from loss sometimes; but it is just that, a lesson. Comfort is what we create, cushion is the product of a building plan, success comes from managing and maintaining both. Safe space is lonely at times, and there are so many great things to fail at with the support of others. Embrace the opportunity

"Safe space is lonely at times, and there are so many great things to fail at with the support of others."

DJ and I speak about this exact point in the podcast interview. Growth takes place in the space we need to fail. How do we learn to get back up if we are reprimanded with every failure or short coming? Fear of failure is a trained condition that is served as propaganda at work, at school, but not in learning. Some say this is a contradiction but not if you can distinguish the difference between systems/ insinuations and the actual process of what learning is. As children, we learn by failing. Eating, walking, speaking, all prime examples of how learning is experienced through constant failure.

Let's create that safe space for others to fail and learn how to get back up!

Getting Out of my comfort zone has been the best thing I’ve done. And if I fail I just continue to strive to do better. I’m humbled and I think I That’s a good thing.

Nicole you hit the nail on the head, "And if I fail I just continue to strive to do better. " and it's not even that you've failed - you've learned. Little by little you have to keep chipping away at the stone until the masterpiece is revealed... and the greatest revelation is that you and your consistent chipping are the masterpiece already....
